To be honest, I expected Super Meat Boy Forever to be little more than an attempt to cash in on its predecessor’s success, simply offering more of what made the original so popular in the first place. Not just a RetreadĪlthough I had never played the original Super Meat Boy before, I decided to try it out while reviewing its sequel, for the sake of comparison. As you might have guessed, this also means that you can choose which of the pair to play right from the start of the game.ĭr. As any reasonable parents would do, Meat Boy and Bandage Girl immediately give chase. Fetus (who has developed quite a penchant for flipping everybody the bird) returns to mess up everyone’s day: while the Meat family is having a picnic, the evil baby swoops in to kidnap Nugget. Fetus.Īfter the successful rescue, Meat Boy and Bandage Girl have become parents to an adorable little flesh sack called Nugget. In the first game, you played as Meat Boy as he sought to rescue his love, Bandage Girl, from the evil Dr. Super Meat Boy Forever manages to offer a more complex story than the first game, while still retaining the tongue-in-cheek, surreal, and downright absurd premise of the original. Super Meat Boy Forever builds on the classic formula of precision platforming, high difficulty, and absurd humor of the original, while also taking the franchise in interesting new directions mechanically.(Get Super Meat Boy Forever for $15.99 here -Use code VERYALI at checkout-) The Plot Thickens Super Meat Boy Forever is the direct sequel to the 2010 indie breakout hit, Super Meat Boy, developed by Edmund McMillen (who also worked on other indie classics, The Binding of Isaac and its remake, and The End Is Nigh) and Tommy Refenes, known collectively as Team Meat.

I encourage you to check out the full set via Gatherer for a better look at the cards that didn't make it.įinally, let's cover the highlight reel. A total of 24 Commander decks have been released in 2022 with a wide variety of themes and colors and all sorts of new cards for players to brew around. Capitalizing on the chaos of the battlefield, this Commander deck punishes your opponents while accruing card advantage later in the game. The main commander is Kardur, Doomscourge, a demon who forces all your opponents to attack a player other than you. There's actually tons of cards that are really cool, but not really up to snuff in today's world. This Rakdos deck is all about causing chaos. People seem to have a soft spot for Hazezon Tamar, Xira Arien, and Rasputin Dreamweaver. Angus Mackenzie is strangely popular despite its cost. Rubinia Soulsinger seems to be so Commander-friendly that it was even reprinted in Commander 2013. Eureka is a fun, albeit risky, way to speed games up at casual tables if you have deep pockets. All Hallow's Eve is a mass reanimation spell for every player with a two-turn delay, which is very thematically interesting but quite mechanically unsatisfying. Active Volcano is pretty far away from Red Elemental Blast, although it is a pretty funny card, and similar can be said for Flash Flood and Blue Elemental Blast. Although you can combine it with Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth to create an Armageddon effect, that's not enough for me. Honorable MentionsĪcid Rain is a color-hoser with rather limited utility against decks that aren't mono-green. Without any further ado, let's get right into the cards themselves, starting with. However, an even greater list of creature types were featured that were later changed via errata, including Cobra, B eing, and E ffigy, which were changed to S nake, Human, and Elemental, respectively. Many creature types were introduced in Legends, the most prominent of which are Spirit, Beast, Phoenix, and S phinx. This is called the World Rule, and it's like a Legend Rule that applies to both players. If a "world" permanent is on the battlefield, another one entering the battlefield will put the first into its owner's graveyard. For reference, "world" is a defunct supertype that has legendary qualities. That being said, building an MTG Commander. In total, the set contains 61 legendary permanents, not including things like world enchantments and such. MTG Commander decks offer a lot of flexibility and give you the opportunity to let your personality shine through. You might not be very surprised to learn that Legends was packed with. Released in June of 1994, Legends was and still is a groundbreaking set, responsible for many design, development, and production trends and precedents that still exist today. Today's focus is Legends, the third expansion set ever created. , a series focusing on the most powerful EDH cards from across Magic: the Gathering's thirty-year history. Be sure to make your lines dark because we are transferring the same image to the block twice.įlip the tracing paper over and secure it to your block with tape. I use tracing paper so that I don’t ruin my original drawing and I also think it’s easier to see the line work. Trace over your lines using a 2B or 3B pencil. Secure your drawing to the table and tape a piece of tracing paper on top. There are several ways to go about transferring your drawing onto the block but I prefer hand-burnishing. Bold, thick lines work best for this project so I suggest using a marker to really make those lines pop. I leave at least a 1/4” boarder in my sketch so that my fingers have room to grip the stamp without getting inky. Outline the stamp onto a piece of printer paper so that you know what size to make your drawing. Since this is a multi-layer block printing project I recommend using this size or smaller. Most of my stamps are 4”x3” so I can get two stamps per block. The first thing to consider is how large you want your stamp. A self-healing cutting mat is great investment. X-Acto Knife: I use a knife to cut out the shape of my design.Ĭutting Mat: This is used so you don’t scratch your favorite surface. I pre-wash my fabric and allow it to air dry. I can get two transfers per line drawing.įabric: The Speedball fabric block printing ink works best on cotton, polyester, blends, linen, rayon and other synthetic fibers. Tracing Paper: I use tracing paper to hand burnish my drawing onto the block. Pencil: A 2B or 3B pencil is used to transfer your image onto the carving block. Even if you are using a color directly from the tube it’s important to give it a stir to eliminate any separation. Palette Knife: I use this to mix up my ink. I use a piece of plexi I borrowed from an old picture frame. Any flat, slick surface will work (plate, glass, plexi). Palette: This is used to roll out the ink. The colors are opaque, the ink cures in one week at room temperate (no ironing!) and it cleans up with soap and water. Ink: I love oil-based ink so when I found out that Speedball makes an oil-based fabric block printing ink I stocked up on every color. Hand-stamping your block is always an option. The baren provides even, consistent pressure that will not damage or scratch your material. It’s my prized printmaking possession! A wooden spoon works great to burnish thin papers like mulberry or kitakata into linoleum or wood.įor this project I recommend using Speedball’s baren. I most frequently use a 3” and 6” brayer.īaren: Printmakers love spooning! Aye! One of the first items I bought when I moved to Portland after college was a wooden spoon. The general rule of thumb is that the brayer should be slightly larger than the printing area on the block. They’re affordable, they work well with oil-based and water-soluble inks and they come in a variety of sizes. I have a highlight on IG detailing this set.īrayer: I use Speedball’s soft rubber brayers. I work primarily in linoleum and the Namisei Moku Hanga To set is fantastic. I’ve purchased an assortment of Japanese gouges from McClain’s Printmaking Supplies over the years. The gouges I use most often are 1, 2 and 4. Two handles may seem excessive but if you find yourself switching blades as often as I do it’s well worth the cost. It comes with two handles and six cutters. Gouges: I’m not sure if it’s the angle of the blade or the softness of the material, but one thing I learned working with Speedy Carve is that Speedball’s linoleum cutters work best. It’s affordable, easy to carve and retains detail over time. Block printing on fabric makes an excellent gift!īlock : Speedy Carve for the win! This pink rubber material is perfect for printing on fabric. I printed my design on a cotton tea towel that I’m gifting to a friend who made me a special quarantine birthday cake last week. Next up, what are you going to print on?! You could add some flare to the pocket of a t-shirt or a pop of color to a pillow case. I’ve been spending more time in the kitchen so I sketched a lemon from multiple angles. Whatever you decide to carve I hope this project brings you a creative burst of energy during these strange times. Maybe you’re inspired by the flowers on your daily walk, the plants you’re lovingly over watering or your fluffy companion that’s still unsure why you’re home all day. We have the fill layer - block 1 and the outline layer - block 2. Multi-layer block printing is a fun way to create a pop-tone, emphasize texture and play around with pattern.įirst things first, what are you going to draw?! I like to think of this project like a coloring book. This project is intended for the printmaker looking to take their skills to the next level. Its cartoonish presentation works in its favor and the constant influx of user-generated content means that you'll always have something new to look forward to. But on my own, Escape Simulator offers a far more tangible sense of the feeling of playing a real-world escape room, one spaceship aside, keeping things within the realms of possibility. Ability to rotate defense abilities to keep at least one active most of the time aids survivability.Magical Damage mitigation is high compared to other tanks. They lack the pure damage mitigation of the Protection Warrior which is why they are second on this list, but they mostly make it back up through self-healing and magical damage mitigation. Stacking up several talents to beef up the effectiveness of Frailty makes the Vengeance DH a powerhouse of self-healing while remaining the mobility king. The Frailty talent will be your friend and utilizing it well will be how you succeed in Dragonflight. The changes mostly revolve around rotation and what skills you will be using, but the tankiness aspect of the class hasn't changed much. Vengeance Demon Hunters could also be in the S-Tier if we were only talking about Mythic+ content, where they excel with their high mobility and AoE damage. There will be some groups that are pushing higher keys that will do well with any of these specs. Provide important group utility with Rallying Cry and Battle ShoutĪ - Tier: These Tank Specializations are performing very well and can even surpass S-Tier specs under certain circumstances or group compositions due to their abilities.Spell Reflection and Spell Block offers some magical damage mitigation.Mythic+ AoE damage and threat.options from both the class tree ( Shockwave, Spear of Bastion, Thunderous Roar), and the specialization tree ( Ravager, Shield Charge). With strong mobility coming from Heroic Leap, Shield Charge, Fast Footwork and more, the class is able to excel in the mobility department. With Demoralizing Shout being affected by the talent Thunderlord and Shield Wall by Impenetrable Wall makes for some quick cooldowns for better mitigation. The defensive prowess of the protection warrior is currently unmatched compared to the other tanks in the game. The Shadowlands talent system made players choose between some very impactful talents, but now Warriors are able to specialize differently to hit some of them at the same time. Their playstyle remains mostly intact and has not changed much, but they have gained talents that increase the usefulness of skills and passive abilities. Protection Warriors are dominating the top Mythic+ rankings and are also seen as the main tank for many Raid compositions. These specs will be seen in all the top compositions for World Firsts. S-Tier: The tanks below provide the best toolkit for surviving, offering great utility, and have good damage to boot. The biggest difference between each tank is what else they can bring to the group via their utilities, mobility, and damage. The criteria of the Tank Tier List should take into account:Īll tanks have exceptional Mitigation and Survivability this season, so players don't have to worry too much about dying. We've updated this list from the past that was based on the Beta and Pre-Patch in Shadowlands, while it gave us a glimpse of what was to come it was not the best indicator for tanking, having a number of talent options and systems not being available for the current expansion. The balancing between tanks is some of the best we've ever seen in regards to tanks in WoW. It should be noted that all tanks are performing really well and players should not be too concerned that their class is holding them back. This tank tier list takes into consideration the Parsing Logs that have been gathered over the past few weeks and compiled data from Mythic+ Rankings to compare all tanks versus one another and place them on a tier list, ranking their overall performance for both Raids and Mythic+ content. Today we go through each of the tanking specializations and determine what we believe are the best tank specs for Dragonflight. There have also been a number of balance changes and while there haven't been huge sweeping changes to Tanks in particular, the meta has nonetheless shifted in favor of certain specs. The Riki’s prominent face has half-inch-tall numerals and large hour and minute arms, so it’s easy to read-even in dim light and from a distance. The only alarm clock among our picks with a design-award pedigree, the sedate beechwood Riki was designed by Japanese modernist Riki Watanabe, whose work was known for being simple yet functional. Why it’s great: If you want a dependable alarm clock with a timeless analog design that’s dead silent and easy to use, the Lemnos Riki checks all of those boxes. The developers recently added Bluetooth speaker functionality and are promising Spotify connectivity and additional sounds as features that are “coming soon.” We’ll update this guide when-and if-these features appear. For instance, we discovered one night that there were a few more soothing classical compositions to wake up to than we’d had the day before and that alarm-scheduling options had been expanded. But on a regular basis this clock can get additional features delivered via Wi-Fi updates. The Loftie isn’t “smart” like other smart alarm clocks, in that you won’t be served the news or the weather with the aid of a voice assistant. The two other buttons are for setting the alarm, accessing brightness and volume settings, setting the duration of the sleep timer, and choosing alarm tones. You won’t be able to read using the light, but it’s bright enough for when you’re fumbling for your glasses or going to the bathroom in the middle of the night. There’s an adjustable night-light hidden at the base that’s easily turned on and off, using the large button on top of the clock (it also works as the snooze button). We also liked the clock’s all-black exterior (it comes in a white and black option, too), which is free of distracting lights or branding. But it’s clear, and it automatically sets the time once connected to a Wi-Fi network. Of clocks we’ve tested, this one’s display isn’t the largest or the brightest. And though the clock’s single-speaker output can be a bit tinny for playing music, it can get surprisingly loud and is just fine for alarm tones and answering Google Assistant prompts. Fortunately, the clock’s two microphones (one in the front, the other in the back) are very sensitive and able to discern commands, even when we used a hushed volume at night. To set the alarm, adjust the volume, or turn on the night-light, it was always much easier to summon help with a “hey, Google …” instead. There’s also a tap at the top to enable the snooze feature, but it sometimes required another touch to register. Unless you’re looking at them from above, the buttons are discernible only by touch, and I often fumbled at night or in the early morning while trying to turn on music or adjust the volume. Even though the clock is outfitted with four evenly distributed buttons-for volume, turning on music, and the alarm settings-they are obscured from view due to the angled wedge design. Most everything this alarm clock can do is hidden, accessed using its built-in Google Assistant voice controls or with the Google Home app. |
